With winter weather comes snow, ice and mud and, for many of us, the desire for a four-wheel drive vehicle. While having a 4×4 or AWD (all wheel drive) vehicle is what is knows as A Good Thing, it doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care and pay special attention whenever conditions aren’t dry and sunny. While more accidents do happen in inclement weather, having a four-wheel drive doesn’t mean you can’t be a part of one.

While having a 4×4/AWD does give you more control and traction when roads are wet and snowy, better ability to traverse muddy areas and more ability to get out if you do get stuck, it offers you virtually no advantage whatsoever in very slick conditions such as very watery mud or ice. And, even though having four-wheel drive does give you more control, it doesn’t give you the same level of control as a vehicle in dry conditions. This means, even if there isn’t any ice, you still need to slow down and pay more attention to what your vehicle is doing.

Even with the best laid plans of mice and men, things do happen and that’s why we have auto insurance. Great insurance agencies like The Schwab Agency in Colleyville TX understand that, even with four-wheel drive, accidents do happen. They’re happy to help you with all your insurance needs and help you to get the best rates possible. Even with a four-wheel drive, giving them a call can keep you from getting stuck!
